Episode 50 with Julie Zhu
Season 3! / Takeout Kids / A Short Film To Watch / Goodspace's Debut Album
Kia ora!
We’re kicking off a brand new season! In the middle of Mental Health Awareness Week no-less, where today’s theme is Community is what we create together. Pretty apt imo. ‘Community’ is one of the returning themes this season and it’s something I’ve got a way better sense of in recent years, thanks - in part - to this podcast. This season, we’re also digging into themes of Compassion, Creativity, and Courage. Am really looking forward to exploring guests’ takes and relationships with these at the moment - and just generally having some fun in the studio!
It has been an exceedingly busy time of late, however, hyper-Virgo legend and past guest, Marc Conaco (our S03 Producer) has been keeping me sane while also pulling off all kinds of impressive magic behind the scenes. Thanks, Marc!
This season has been made possible thanks to the Asian Artists’ Fund (Foundation North & Creative New Zealand) and we’ve returned to record at Big Fan.
Whether you’re a long-time listener or new around these parts - thanks for checking this out. All episodes can be found online, wherever you usually listen to podcasts. Season three episodes will be dropping every three weeks.
Noho ora mai

Congrats Seunghoon & crew for this beaut short film! Part of Day One Hāpai te Haeata: A Korean immigrant dad, working as a construction painter, mentors a new young worker while simultaneously battling melancholia and guilt as he awaits the arrival of his family.
